Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Artisan: Fitter. The
position will be based at Bokoni Platinum Mines at Atok (Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune
District Municipality in Limpopo. Purpose of the job is to provide a mechanical service and support to all area operations through effective maintenance and installation of equipment and machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections to ensure the safe and effective operation of
• machinery and equipment.
• Ensure the safe and effective handling of all Engineering machinery and
  equipment.
• General housekeeping in area of responsibility.
• Conduct pre-start checks.
• Maintain hand and power driven tools.
• Conduct lubricating tasks i.e. moving and rotating parts.
• Use hand tools (hammers, chisels, spanners, power tools mechanic power
  saw etc.
• Install and secure pipelines.
• Perform tasks on elevated areas or structures.
• Dismantle or assemble equipment (pumps, rock drills etc.) if trained and
  licensed.
• Remove tight fitting sleaves, bushes, coupling from shafts of casing by means
  of pullers or presses.
• Man-handle heavy materials.
• Service and maintain machines and mechanical equipment.
• Do maintenance and breakdown duties as required.
• Coordinate and supervise sub-ordinates.
• Report to control room.
• Perform Planned Maintenance duties.
• Update and maintain the maintenance system.
• Sign off all daily checks performed by self and subordinates.
• Submit reports as required.
• Must be able to read and understand drawings and schematics.

Requirements

• Grade 12
• N2 with 4 relevant subjects.
• Valid Fitter Trade Test Certificate: Section 13/26D.
• Minimum of 3 years in an Underground mining environment.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.

Bokoni Platinum Mines is a mining operation situated in the Eastern Limb of the Bushveld Complex. This
operation is planned to produce circa 400,000 oz per annum. Its project plan includes the construction of new
decline shafts with combined capacity of 240,000 tons per month, a new concentrator plant, tailings storage facility
and associated surface and underground infrastructure
