Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Drill Rig Operator UG
The position will be based at Bokoni Platinum Mines at Atok (Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune
District Municipality in Limpopo). Responsible for operating a mobile mechanized Drill Rig machine in an underground environment

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct start of shift inspection of Drill Rig equipment and test brakes.
• Move Drill Rig to the drill site and inspect drilling accessories.
• Transporting the equipment from waiting place.
• Rattling of the loose rocks.
• Hanging the cable by the S hook.
• Collecting and fixing hole pipes.
• Installation of the lifter tubes after drilling.
• Drilling of holes for anchors at the tip.
• Participating in the early entry examination.
• Drive the Drill Rig around blind corners.
• Inspect the face and hanging wall at the Drill face and bar down loose rock.
• Align Drill Boom on the required dip and direction and stabilize the machine with
  the stabilizing jacks.
• Responsible for the installation of pipes, barricades & water pump to control the
  Rigs water.
• Reporting of breakdowns to the supervisor & engineering artisans.
• Commence drilling at the prescribed pressure settings.
• De-sludge/Clean out holes on completion of drilling.
• Re-position Drill Rig as required.
• Remove the machine from the face at the end of the shift and park in a safe
  manner.
• Remove ignition key at the end of the shift.
• Responsible for the housekeeping in the areas of responsibility.
• More exposure on the electricity as compared to other operators.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12, for all new applicants.
• Grade 10/AET Level 4/NQF Level 1 for all Ex Bokoni Platinum Mines employees.
• Have a valid Drill Rig licence / certificate for machine.
• At least minimum of 6 months experience as an Operator: Drill Rig will be an
  advantage.
• The successful completion of a hand, eye co-ordination test (Dover Test).
• Literacy in English.
• Competent B.
• No limitations to working underground in confined spaces.
• Fitness Certificate.
• Understanding & application of Health & Safety Principles.
