Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Roofbolter Operator. The position will be based at Bokoni Platinum Mines at Atok (Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune District Municipality in Limpopo). The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the safe installation of underground support for the stabilization of hanging and side walls to
avoid fall of ground.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- To operate the Roofbolter and any duties associated with Roofbolter.
- Conduct pre-use inspections of the Roofbolter, perform brake tests and
emergency stopping procedures. - Start-up and shut-down procedure.
- Inspect drilling equipment (rods/ bits), and inspect the drill site, i.e., bar
down loose rocks. - Hanging the cable with the S-hooks.
- Collecting and fixing hole pipes.
- Installing water pumps before any drilling commences.
- Collar and drill rod on completion of the hole, install grout rod and secure.
- Loading of resins, roofbolts, & flexi bolts.
- Drilling of belts, pigtail eye bolts.
- Installation of flexi-bolts & physically assisting to push into the hole.
- Remove the machine and park it in a safe place at the end of the shift.
- Maintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
- Ad-hoc duties, e.g. extension of service pipes
- Form part of safe declaration process when required.
- Reporting to control room and supervisor any breakdowns/damages.
- Report to supervisor at the end of shift on machine condition and location.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12, for all new applicants
- Grade 10/AET Level 4 for all Ex Bokoni-Platinum employees
- Have a valid Roofbolter licence / certificate for machine
- At least minimum of 6 months experience as Roofbolt Operator
- Literacy in English
- Competent B Skills programme
- No limitations to working underground in confined spaces
- Fitness Certificate
- Understanding & application of Health & Safety Principles
