Job Description
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12/Standard 10 Certificate with Mathematics & Physical Science.
- 6 months – 1 year practical experience in a Metallurgical (sampling) Laboratory equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- To obtain, prepare and test all samples and to assist in plant optimisation test work campaigns and equipment calibration and verification to ensure product quality standards to meet customer requirements.
- Accurately collect samples at the sample cutters, stockpiles, special sampling points and the dispatch trucks and transport to the Laboratory. Collect samples from other outlets.
- Prepare the samples for analysis on the analytical instruments within the specified turnaround times. Assist analyst in sample preparation by weighing samples and fusing samplers and leeching samples using analytical tools and techniques. Transfer samples into volumetric flasks.
- Analyse the samples on the analytical equipment as per instruction/procedures. Report the results to the supervisor in the format specified for each kind of analysis in order to optimise the plant control processes.
- Verify moisture analyser by use appropriate and following prescribed procedure. Verify product sizes by using sieve masters, record results and make recommendations. Conduct mini-efficiencies using sieves to ensure quality and consistency. Verify oven functioning to ensure effectiveness of drying functions using equipment and procedures, record results and make recommendations.
- Take pH readings. Gradually add whitewash to make more. Continue readings and adding solution until solution is basis.
