About Pepkor Speciality
Speciality: the revival of the specialist in South Africa
Speciality brings together the speciality brands of Dunns, Shoe City, Refinery and Tekkie Town, SPCC and CODE. Each company has a rich and distinctive history and a thorough understanding of their products, fabrics, designs and the needs of their customers.
Over the past two decades South Africa has suffered the demise of specialism. Because of the challenges of economies of scale, specialist companies can’t compete against the mass market. Specialism in fashion has been replaced by uniformity.
At Speciality we believe that specialists are a vital part of Africa’s vibrant retail environment. Products should be made or selected by experts so that customers can exercise their choice and their right to benefit from the specialist’s expertise. Our aim is to activate specialists to provide inclusivity to both our staff and the people we serve.
Speciality is delighted to be resurrecting the era of specialism. By combining our specialist companies we have been able to create economies of scale in supply chain, IT and financial systems. This means that products of choice that should be exclusively priced can be inclusively priced, so that our customers can purchase uniqueness without an exorbitant price tag.
Specialty has 850 stores in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. Our world-class retail operating platform was built for maximization as we expand our footprint with more speciality brands in future.
