Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Shotcrete equipment to spray concrete onto the surface in accordance with project specifications and engineering requirements
- Prepare work area, including setting up hoses, pumps, and nozzles, and ensuring proper alignment and positioning
- Perform pre-operational checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning of shotcrete equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Monitor shotcrete application to ensure consistent thickness, adhesion, and surface finish
- Collaborate with quality control personnel to evaluate and adjust mix designs as needed
- Record daily production data, including shotcrete volume, quality metrics, and equipment usage
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communicate with site supervisors, batching plant operators, and other team members to coordinate operations and meet project deadlines
- Promote a healthy and safe working environment
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate/ equivalent
- Spraymech License or relevant competency
- Competent B
- Valid Driver’s license
- Medically fit to work underground
- At least 3 years of experience in operating shotcrete equipment in Mining, tunneling, or civil construction environment
- Experience with wet and/or dry shotcrete processes, including the use of robotic or manual spray equipment
- Familiarity with concrete batching and mixed designs for shotcrete applications
- Experience working in confined spaces and adhering to strict safety protocols
- Strong understanding of shotcrete application techniques and best practices
- Knowledge of concrete material properties and curing processes
- Ability to operate and maintain shotcrete spraying equipment, pumps, and related tools
- Ability to identify and resolve issues during shotcrete operations, such as equipment malfunctions or mix inconsistencies
