Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Supply relevant information to Operator (Locomotive):
- Number or trucks coupled
- All brake pipes are coupled
- No objects on or near tracks which can cause derailment / damage
- Level crossings – state of read traffic
- Inspect contents of trucks visually and reported abnormalities
- Route trucks by shunting over hand-points
- Shunt over level crossings not protected by booms
- Switch over facing points
- Apply and release brakes
- Couple and uncouple trucks
- Secure detached trucks in a siding
- Control the movement of stock by using approved hand signaling and/or by using radio communication systems
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / N3
- 1 Year shunter experience
- Driver’s License (Code B)
